Forearms Workout : arm toning exercises

by admin on June 26, 2010

Forearms workouts are important because they work hard for you every time you are in a short or rolled up shirt. You may have a cut body but unless you’re at the beach with your shirt off, it isn’t working hard to make you look younger. Women see strong forearms and feel like you can take care of things. They see you as someone who can protect them from bad guys, build a home, etc so roll up those shirtsleeves and let ‘em have a look.

Forearms workouts should be part of your exercise repertoire if you want to develop a truly younger looking physique. They make your arms look powerful but they can also be a limiting factor. In my experience, weak forearms limited my chest development because they gave out before I was able to fully exhaust and grow my pecs. It wasn’t until I developed my forearms that I could unlock my chest potential. And including forearms workouts in your routine will help you with nearly every exercise for the upper body by helping you grip, push and pull. But forearms workouts should be different from those of other body parts.

Forearms require fewer exercises than other body parts
Because forearms are involved in so many other exercises, you will not need very many different exercises:

1) Reverse Barbell Curls

Success comes from fewer sets, but more reps per set.
You are trying to get to that burn by hitting your forearms with many reps. Keep going until you feel the forearm swell up from all the blood pumping into your muscles.

You Need Heavier Weight Than You Would Expect.
Because they are accustomed to continual use and heavy stress, they need heavier weight to get them to respond.

Strict Technique is a Must
Your biceps will try to do some of the work so you need strict technique to completely isolate them. Lay them firmly on a bench, elbows close together and locked in between your knees.

To complement your forearms workout try this advanced dumbbell technique to create bicep peaks and great looking arms.

Really a good, informative article. There is a ton written up about abs exercises, but you rarely see one specific to forearms – and it’s a good read. However, another topic I would like to see get some attention isstrength training workouts for seniors. I’m 60 and I still hit the gym 3x week. But things change and I could use some input.
